Equidistant between north pole and equator, between ocean and mountain, Black Perigord is a model of harmony.
All the seasons are different and each one has its own charm.
Most of the touristics sites are open from april to november but the major sites are open all year round (Beynac castle, Castelnaud castle, Combarelles and Font de Gaume caves, Marqueyssac and Eyrignac gardens, National Museum of Prehistory, Abri du Poisson..). Some of them are only closed in january (LASCAUX II, Gouffre de Proumeyssac, Abri Pataud..)
In spring, you can contemplate green hills where stand out the ochre cliffs of Dordogne's river banks.
In autumn the exceptional luminosity associated wand the sky purity give to the nature an incomparable beauty.
During the summer, afternoons are usually hot and you will appreciate a delicious swim in the Dordogne's river clear water. In the evening, many shows in Sarlat's medieval streets (street theater, night markets, concerts, acrobats...)
As for winter, it is rather mild without snow or big frosts, often sunny .
